The new value curve exhibited the criteria of a successful strategy. It
displayed more focus than the previous strategy; investments that were made
were given a much stronger commitment than before. It also stood apart from the
industry’s existing me-too curves and lent itself to a compelling tagline: “The

FedEx of corporate foreign exchange: easy, reliable, fast, and trackable.” By
collapsing its online and traditional businesses into one compelling offering,
EFS substantially cut the operational complexity of its business model, making
systematic execution far easier.
