SPEAKING PART 2
DREAM
Model Answer 1
A couple of months ago, I had a dream at night, and it was about missing a train that I
was supposed to catch. It could have been a banal dream, just like other dreams that I
dream and forget, but since I thought about it deeply and tried to relate it with my life, I
thought it meant something. It was a kind of dream that gives you a feeling that it was
almost real.
I felt that the dream was something indicative to me because I could remember every
detail of the dream and tried to find the reason for it. But I could not get the meaning
right. Later I thought that it could be a sign of my negligence to study properly. I thought
so because I believe that dreams are often reflections of our thoughts and actions. As it
bothered me a bit, I started focusing on my academic studies more seriously as I
wanted to make my parents proud as well as score high in my final exam.
It was a kind of mixed feeling for me as I thought about the dream. In fact, for the past
few months, I had not been concentrating on my academic studies as seriously as I
should have. So, when I had the dream, I started feeling guilty. It was my subconscious
mind that told me to concentrate more on my academic studies to reach my goal.
Describe a dream you remember well.
You should say:
•
what type of dream it was
•
what you thought about this dream
•
how you felt about the dream
and explain why you remember this dream so well.
In the dream, I saw that I missed my train as I was a bit late to reach the station. As
soon as I reached the station, the train started its engine and began to move. I tried to
catch the train, ran for a while but could not get close. In the dream, the event gave me
a melancholy feeling as I was supposed to take that train and go to a place where my
presence was important. Since it was a very lucid dream and made me thought about it
a lot, I still remember it clearly.
Model Answer 2
Thank you very much for this interesting candidate task card topic. A couple of months
ago, I had a dream, and I cannot term it a good dream. In fact, it was a very bad dream.
It was about the death of a dear friend whom I like a lot. However, it was merely a
dream, nothing more than that.
When I woke up in the morning, I felt really sad. I felt a sense of emptiness inside me
even though the feeling remained just for a minute or so. It was like a nightmare to me
and I felt a rush to drink a lot of water as I was thirsty. I also thought about our life and
death and that was a bit melancholic for me. However, I recovered soon and tried to
think rationally. Next morning, I called this friend and I was relieved to hear his voice.
This assured me that I had nothing to worry about.
I had experienced some bad events including the death of two relatives before I had this
dream. So, I guess, I had been thinking about our life and death back then, and the
dream was a result of these thoughts. Moreover, I was a bit depressed back then. So,
my subconscious mind clutched the matter, and accordingly, the event appeared in my
dream.
This is not the type of dream I often experience. The clarity
and experience of the
dream seemed so real. I was caged with sadness and could not sleep well the whole
night; it was such impactful. Also, it all happened during a time when I was not having a
good time. It made things worse, I believe. For all these reasons, I can still remember it
so well.
