Section 396 
1.  Insubordination committed jointly by two or more persons shall constitute mutiny and shall be 
punishable by a term of imprisonment not exceeding six years or a fine of the fourth category. 
2.   The offender shall be liable:  
1°.  to a term of imprisonment not exceeding seven years and six months or a fine of the fifth 
category, if the serious offence or the accompanying acts committed by him result in any bodily 
harm; 
2°.  to a term of imprisonment not exceeding twelve years or a fine of the fifth category, if they 
result in grievous bodily harm; 
3°.  to a term of imprisonment not exceeding fifteen years or a fine of the fifth category, if they result 
in death. 
 
Section 397 
Any person who, on board a Dutch ship or seagoing fishing boat, incites a mutiny on that ship or 
vessel, shall be liable to a term of imprisonment not exceeding five years or a fine of the fourth 
category.
