ENVIRONMENT, POLLUTION, DEVELOPMENT: THE CASE OF UZBEKISTAN
The term ‘environ mental legislation’ is associated with national
environ mental law, and it mostly refers to legal acts (laws of
parliament, regulations of government and local authorities) that
pertain to the environ ment or help to achieve the national aims of
environ mental policy – to preserve, protect and improve environ-
mental quality, provide for sustainable use of natural resources and
ensure a high-quality living environ ment.
For the purpose of the law, ‘the environ ment’ is taken to
mean an aggregate of natural, anthropogenic and societal factors.
Obviously, ‘the environ ment’ includes not only natural factors (the
natural environ ment) but also human beings and their impact on the
natural environ ment.
