As shown in the Table 1 can be seen that in laboratory conditions, the recovery 
process at a current density of 2,5-3,0 A/dm
2
occurs with the highest efficiency. 
Further increase in the current density no affects significantly on the cathode 
efficiency and leads to overheating of the electrolyte.
In a neutral medium, the recovery process does not occur, with an increase in 
the concentration of sulfuric acid to 3-4 g/l, the current yield of chromium increases, 
further increase in the acid concentration does not affect the increase in the current 
yield of chromium. If the sulfuric acid content is excessive, the solution is blackened 
during the reduction process, obviously due to the charring of the organic reducing 
agent present. 
Studies on the electrolysis of chromate-containing solutions show that within 1 
hour the process of reducing the concentration of hexavalent chromium ions from 50 
g/l to 31-32 g/l and, accordingly, an increase in the content of trivalent chromium 
ions to 8-9 g/l. In the future, the process of simultaneous reduction of metallic 
chromium from chromium (VI) and chromium (III) ions proceeds. 
It is known that polyatomic alcohols with many metals form complex 
compounds, as well as trivalent chromium, reduced during electrolysis from a 
solution with chromium(VI) ions possesses to increases cathode efficiency. The study 
of the effect of different concentrations of glycerol on the reduction of chromium(VI) 
ions revealed the optimal concentration of glycerol on the relative increase of cathode 
efficiency.
