Collaboration with the Government in the transport and energy sectors have 

deepened. The Transport Sector Review provided a comprehensive analysis of urban transport in 

Tashkent city road transport and railways and offered examples of international experience in how 

to address sector challenges through policy changes and investment in the short to longer term. It 

also proposed activities for which the Bank can provide support. As a result, the Government 

requested IBRD and IDA funding to support two projects in the transport sector: Pap-Angren 

Railways Project and Regional Roads Development Project.
