These tree species were successfully planted on highly saline soils at the experimental site 
(Yangibazar, Khorezm), where a soil salinity level of  more than 20 dSm/m was recorded during 
the growing season and where saline groundwater with the salt concentration of  1-5 dSm/ m 
occurred at the depth of  0.9-2.0 m. Two years after irrigation was stopped, the trees were able to 
use the groundwater and produced yields of  above-ground biomass of  10-60 t/ha (Fig. 5.5.1).
