Motorcycles
Motorcycles are overrepresented in road accidents compared to the distance travelled. For
instance in the United States, motor cycles constitute for less than 0.33% of all vehicle
kilometres in 2002, but almost eight percent of the road fatalities. From figure 5.8 it is seen
that it is mainly in the Western European member states that motorcycles are an issue.
