Faraday‟s discoveries in the field of electromagnetism attracted 

much attention but their importance was little understood . One 

day  a  member  of  parliament  visited  Faraday  and  asked  him  to 

show  some  of  his  experiments.  Faraday  demonstrated  the 

phenomenon of  induced currents . 

 “What is the use of it?”  asked the  visitor.
