Students perceive writing as seemingly difficult skill as it requires more effort to produce a written product. Writers should go through some stages: reading articles, reflection over the topic, prewriting, writing, editing, revising, and finally rewriting. This is called process writing (Zemach &Rumisek, 2003). The stages in the process can be ordered differently depending on teachers’ teaching style. the role of teachers is immense because they help students using strategies, for example, using a T-chart can be supportive when students write an advantages/disadvantages paragraph or essay on the topic of online education (see Picture 1).

Learning strategies are really helpful when they are used correctly with appropriate audience and
context. In an ESL and EFL context, students’ language proficiency also plays an important role because if learners speak fluently in contrast to those who cannot, a certain strategy may not work. However, A T- chart is universal in the meaning that it can be utilized in any context with various language proficiency level.
Model Teaching (2022) proposes using collaborative writing strategy as a support for struggling students. As they claim it promotes engagement between strong and poor writers, and advanced writers. It opens up an opportunity to communicate verbally to discuss ideas, grammar and vocabulary aspects of a language.
How it works? It may involve two peers working on one essay, or two groups working on different essays. Based on the context, the audience, language level, teacher can adapt it for their own teaching purposes.
Benefits of collaborative writing:
♦Poor writers can work with strong writers thus improve their writing, while higher performing students can revise writing rules.
♦Teachers can easy their responsibility assigning other students to help poor writers.
♦Students stress can be reduced when they do not work with teacher, but teacher will keep guiding and supporting.
♦An opportunity to review and revise missed lessons.
♦An avenue for advanced writing performers to learn additional knowledge on vocabulary, gram-
mar.
