Annotation 
Topicality of the research
is conditioned by the followings: 1) that it is done in the 
framework of one of the new anthropocentric linguistic trends – Cognitive linguistics; 2) by the 
absence of comparative researches of these cognitive models in all languages; 3) by the absence 
of scientific works devoted to the investigation of cognitive models of compound words in 
English and Uzbek languages. 
Aim and tasks of research
: the determination of cognitive value of compound words 
and analyzing their differences and similarities in the English and Uzbek languages. 
Subject and object of research:
Language units that represent cognitive value of 
compound words in the English and Uzbek languages and their differences and similarities in the 
mentioned languages. 
Methods of research:
descriptive-analytic, comparative method, method of cognitive 
modeling, method of conceptual analysis, method of cognitive interpretation of metaphors. 
The degree of novelty of the research
is determined by the fact that this is the first 
investigation devoted to the cognitive study of similarities and differences of compound words 
in English and Uzbek languages, the phenomenon of conceptualism in both languages, the 
productive and nonproductive types of word formation in cognitive models in the given 
languages.
Practical value and degree of embed: 
the material of the research can be used in 
delivering lectures and practical lessons on General Linguistics, Cognitive Linguistics, Stylistics, 
Lexicology, in writing research works, textbooks, dictionaries and manuals.
The results obtained: 
1) a complex method of cognitive analysis has been worked out; 
2) the cognitive value of compound words has been determined; 3) the number of differences 
and similarities has been revealed; 4) the cognitive interpretation of metaphorical nominations 
that represent compound words has been done.
