The relationships between the associative/dissociative behaviors and identity security/
“the degree of intimacy” and “proud to be a Hakka” (r=.19, p<.01); “the degree of intimacy”
and “people call me a Hakka” (r=.10, p<.01); “frequency” and “proud to be a Hakka” (r=.18, p<.01); and “frequency” and “people call me a Hakka” (r=.18, p<.01). The finding suggests that
the Hakka respondents who have more intimate and frequent contacts with ethnically dissimilar
others in their daily activities are likely to form identity security.
