My future career

When you leave school you understand that the time to choose you future profession, your future life has become. It’s not easy to make the right choice of a job. I have known for a long time that leaving school is the beginning of my independent life, the beginning of a far more serious examination of my abilities and character.

What do I want to be when I leave school?

It’s very important question for me. A few years ago it was difficult for me to give a definite answer. As the years passed I changed my mind a lot of times about what science or field of industry to specialize in. it’s difficult to make up my mind and choose one of the hundreds jobs to which I might be better suited. A coupe of years ago I wanted to become a doctor, you know I wanted to help people who had problems with health. Then I wanted to become a policeman, then a spaceman, I even wanted to become a professional football player. But all of them now are in the past; they were like children’s dreams and nothing more. I would like to be an aviator. I know that it’s very difficult. I should know perfectly everything about the planes, airports, weather and other things. You know that the weather is very important thing for the flights too. I must be well educated and well informed. So that’s why at first I am going to go to the Aviation University in Moscow, then when I finish studding I will go to my country to try to get a job in the air companies. You know may be something will be not OK, because I don’t know what will happen tomorrow, but I know that I will do everything to realize my plane and my dreams.

I also want to say that the profession should be chosen according to the character and hobbies of the person. That’s why parents must not make their children choose the thing they like ( parents like ). Children must do it themselves. Because they must love the thing they do, believe that people need them and their job will bring them more pleasure.

It’s rather difficult sometimes to choose a career and to speak about the future profession. I would say it’s because a lot may change in our life in a moment. There are lucky people who chose their profession in childhood and since that time have been doing everything possible to acquire proficiency. But they are few.

If we are not indifferent to our future, while thinking about the future career we are to pay attention to a number of important thing. We should determine our abilities and inclinations. Then we should analyze job prospects. We must know whether the profession we have chosen will guarantee good living conditions and give promotion. We must be sure we will avoid unemployment or at least will be able to apply our knowledge our skills in other fields of human activity. In short, we are to decide what we are going to do in our life and feel satisfied, but not bored or disappointed.

When I was a fifth-former I dreamt of becoming a doctor. I wanted to be a surgeon and treat people and save their lives. I admired the courage and generosity of surgeons. But the I noticed I can’t bare the sight of blood, I’m not bare to deal with surgical instruments. And I gave up this idea.

At the time I realized that I was fond of English. I was always good at English at school. And when we got acquainted with the English and American literature, the lessons of British and American Studies I understood that I want to have a perfect command of the English language and become a good specialist in English.

So I do my best to master the language because I have made up my mind to apply to the Linguistic University and become either a teacher or an interpreter. I have not chosen it yet. Both professions are interesting and necessary in our society. Perhaps, I will keep our family tradition and become a teacher of English. But I will think about it tomorrow if I enter the University.

The career is an individual’s metaphorical “journey” through learning, work and other aspects of life. There are a number of ways to define career and the term is used in a variety of ways.
