My favourite movie: Avatar Vanessa Leung 2E
My favourite movie is Avatar, which was directed by James Cameron, who also directed another great and famous movie, Titanic. Avatar is an action and fantasy film. I watched it in December, 2009.
The film is about how a human, Jack Sully, who had a permanent disability, saved a planet, Pandora. As his brother was ready to go to Pandora but he died before he could arrive, Jack got a chance to go there and take over his brother’s task in Pandora. Humans were going to get natural resources from Pandora and Jack was ordered to persuade the Pandora people to give them resources.
However, while Jack was in Pandora, he fell in love with the princess of Pandora and he knew how important the natural resources were to the Pandora people. He decided to protect Pandora and stop humans from destroying it. After he had fought with humans in the war, he became a hero and in the end, he became one of the Pandora people !
There were many scenes that I like, but the most impressive scene was Jack opening his eyes at the end of the movie. That scene is about all Pandora people telling their goddess that they wanted Jack to be one of them and not a human anymore. Finally, the goddess heard their hopes. When Jack nearly died because of the war, the goddess saved him and he was changed into a Pandora, who had blue skin and yellow eyes. I think it is impressive because it is the greatest way to end the movie.
My favourite character of course is Jack. Jack was a brave, clever young man. I think it was not easy to persuade himself to take the task of his brother after he was disabled, but he still did it. And I really appreciate that he was willing to fight with humans without any selfish for the Pandoras and didn’t care about he was also a human too.
There are many reasons for why I like the film. The special effects were so beautiful and looked very real. I just felt that I was ‘in’ the movie. And it was my first time to watch a 3D-movie! I felt very surprised that I could enjoy this kind of great effects! What’s more, I remember it was Christmas Eve too!
I would definitely recommend this film to my friends. It is a meaningful story, and they can get good messages from it while watching the beautiful effects. I think they will enjoy the film and love it as much as I do.
