Funeral services for Thomas William Bolden, 64, Giles County farmer, who died Saturday, August 25, at Giles County Hospital, were held at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon at Mt. Moriah Church, conducted by F. H. Curtis, Church of Christ minister. Burial took place in the church cemetery. Mr. Bolden died at 8:35 o’clock Saturday night after several months illness. Born April 10, 1887, in Giles County, he was the son of the late Scott Bolden and Mary Lumpkins Bolden. Mr. Bolden is survived by his wife, Mrs. Victoria Martin Bolden; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Hardin and Mrs. Carl McMillion, Pulaski; three sons, Luther Lee Bolden, Hillsboro, Tenn., James Scott Bolden, Pulaski, andPfc. RaymondM. Bolden, who was reported “Missing in Action” in Korea a year ago; two grandchildren; and one brother, Bob Bolden, Nashville.

Willie Victoria Bolden of Pulaski died March 15, 1994, at Pulaski Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Tom Bolden and a member of the Church of Christ. Services were held March 17 at Bennett-May Chapel with Paul Sain officiating. Burial was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Survivors include daughter Ruby McMillion of Kentucky, son Scott Bolden of Alabama; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Richard H. Booth, 98, believed to be Giles County’s oldest citizen, died at 7:30 Wednesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. J. R. Adkins, in Lynnville after several weeks of declining health. Funeral services were to be held at 10:30 Thursday morning at the Moriah Cumberland Presbyterian Church by the Rev. W. C. Moorehead, pastor of the Lynnville Methodist Church. Burial was to take place in the family lot at the Moriah Cemetery. Mr. Booth was the son of Charles Booth and Emily Jones Booth, pioneer settlers who cleared the land for the family home in the Minor Hill community. For many years, he resided in that section where he supervised the farming interests and engaged in real estate business. In late years, he and his wife, Mrs. Zora Powers Booth, made their home with Mr. and Mrs. Adkins at Lynnville. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Mr. Booth was married three times, his first wife and the mother of his children, Mrs. Sallie Powers Booth, died many years ago. His second wife was Miss Ella Allen of Giles County who died several years ago.

In addition to Mrs. Booth, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Adkins of Lynnville, Mrs. N. N. Woodward of Waxahachie, Texas, and Mrs. Collins Lusby of LaFollette; and several grandchildren.

Mrs. Zora Neil Booth, 82, widow of R. H. Booth, died at 7 o’clock Friday morning, April 13, at the home of her step-daughter, Mrs. J. R. Adkins, and Mr. Adkins in Lynnville, after a three weeks’ illness. Funeral rites were held at 11 o’clock Saturday morning at the grave in Mt. Moriah Cemetery, with the services conducted by the Rev. W. C. Moorehead, her former pastor. Born September 29, 1873, in Bedford County, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Neil, and was a member of the Methodist Church. Mrs. Booth is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Annie Williams, Pullman, Wash., and Mrs. Etta Jorday, Shelbyville; one brother, Will Neil, Fresno, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Booth died July 16, 1952. A niece, Mrs. James Hall and Mr. Hall of Shelbyville came for the funeral.

Roger Dale Boshers, two-day old infant son of Mr. and Mrs. R. D. Boshers of Detroit, Mich., formerly of Pulaski, died Thursday at Giles County Hospital. Graveside services were held at Mt. Moriah Cemetery on Sunday afternoon. In addition to the parents, the child is survived by two brothers, Dewey and Lynn Boshers; and the two grandmothers, Mrs. Dewey Boshers and Mrs. Thomas Holt. A Giles County native died Monday after the car he drove apparently struck another vehicle head on near Centerville. Romeo D. Boshers, 54, of Route 1, Lyles, was traveling west on Highway 100 about 13 miles east of Centerville when he reportedly crossed the center line and struck a truck driven by Gary White, of Route 2, Lyles, according to the report. Mr. Boshers

was taken to St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, where he died of injuries sustained in the collision. White was uninjured in the crash. Services for Mr. Boshers were Thursday at 3 p.m. in Bennett-MayFuneral Home with the Revs. Steven Marker, Bill Morris and Clarence Stewart officiating. Burial was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. He was the son of the late Dewey Boshers. He was a retired Air Force veteran who served in the Korean war and was a nurse at Turney Center in Only. Other survivors includes his wife, Sue Boshers of Lyles; his mother, Mrs. Thelma Brewer of Pulaski; three daughters, Barbara Boshers and Debbie Abernathy, both of Pulaski, and Tonya Boshers of Lamar, S.C.; four sons, Lynn Boshers of Laport, Ind., Dewey Boshers of Pulaski, Troy Boshers of Warner Robbins Air Force Base in Warner Robbins, Ga., and Chris Boshers of Columbia; three step-daughters; two step-sons; and 10 grandchildren.

E. T. Braly, one of our old and highly esteemed citizens died Thursday night of paralysis caused by a blood clot in the brain. The burial took place at Moriah on Friday, with services by Rev. W. J. Bruce in the presence of a large crowd of relatives and friends. Mr. Braly was a good quiet Christian man who always attended to business and counted his friends by the score. Surviving Mr. Braly are his wife and a number of children, namely John, Will, Jim, Nat, Mrs. G. W. Carter of Birmingham, and Mrs. Galloway of Florida, both of whom attended his bedside and Misses Lelia and Mattie Braly. Mr. Braly was 74 years old and a member of the Christian Church. The Citizen sincerely sympathizes with the bereaved family.

J. D. Braly died at his home in Bodenham Friday night. The burial was at Mt.Moriah Sunday. T. E. Hudson conducting services in the presence of a large crowd of relatives and friends. Mr. Braly is survived by several children, among them being Mrs. E. R. Buchanan of Pulaski. He was twice married, his first and second wife predeceased him. Mr. Braly was a highly esteemed citizen, a consistent member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and an ex-Confederate soldier.

James Robert Braly, 71, Route 5, Lawrenceburg (Bodenham community) died Sunday, March 12, 1989 at Hillside Hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Carr and Erwin Funeral Home with Haywood Lyles and Marlin Goodman officiating. Burial was in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Mr. Braly was a Giles County native and the son of the late Robert N. and Ella Clifton Braly. He was a member and elder of Mt. Moriah Presbyterian Church. He was a World War II veteran, having served 38 months in the European Theatre. Mr. Braly was retired from Genesco and a retired farmer. J. T. Braly passed away at his home in Pulaski about 3 o’clock Wednesday morning, following


an attack of paralysis that come on Friday of last week. Mr. Braly had been in poor health for

the past year or two. He underwent an operation at the local hospital a few weeks ago and recovered sufficiently to return home. But did not get quite well. After funeral services at the Presbyterian Church, Thursday afternoon at 2:30, the body will be taken to Moriah for burial, where repose the remains of many of the Braly family. Mr. Braly had been a loyal member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church since his boyhood. He was a good citizen and successful farmer. As age came on he retired from active work, and removed to town where he spent the evening of a long, useful life.

Mrs. Braly died on Thursday afternoon, February 9, at her home one mile west of Pulaski, following a long period of illness. Born January 27, 1872, she was the daughter of the late Porter Allen and Margaret Anderson Allen. The last member of her immediate family, she was the widow of Reed Braly who died in 1952. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church. Mrs. Bralyis survived by one son, Louis Braly; one grandson, Billy Braly, Birmingham, Ala.; and one great-granddaughter, Miss Patricia Ann Braly, Pulaski. Her husband, Tyree K. Braly, died several years ago. In addition to her daughter, Mrs. Braly is survived by one son, Ervin M. Braly, Giles County, and three grandchildren. Bennett-May Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Obituary: The Pulaski Citizen 9 Jul 1952

Funeral services for Reed Apperson Braly, 83, were held at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon at Mt. Moriah Church. Rites were conducted by the Rev. Roy West and the Rev. A. R. Hogan, Methodist ministers, and burial took place in the church cemetery. He died suddenly of a heart attack on Saturday night at his home two miles west of Pulaski. Born February 7, 1869, he was the son of the late Robert C. Braly and Virginia Neal Braly. He was a lifelong resident of the county and was a member of the Methodist Church. For a number of years he had grown broom corn and had manufactured household brooms which found a ready sale in this locality. Mr. Braly is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucy Allen Braly; one son, Lewis Braly, one grandson; all of Pulaski; and two brothers, Will Braly and Bob Braly, both of the western section of the county.
