In the previous century, after the first step on the moon, the astronaut 
said that it would be a great step for the mankind. But some people believe 
that it made little difference for people's lives today. 
To what extent do you agree or disagree? 
The first step of humanity on the Moon meant a lot at that time since it would 
bring many benefits in the future. While some think it has lost its significance to 
a certain degree by now, I believe we can still take advantage of space 
exploration.
On the one hand, those who argue researching the universe is no longer of 
great importance have some reasons for thinking so. For one thing, the process 
of researching the space, including hiring specific scientists, building necessary 
facilities and launching rockets, comes at a huge cost. However, the result is 
not always guaranteed in such experiments as the successful landing of probe-
rockets on another planet is something really challenging, which is why the 
spending seems not to be justified. Instead, it would be more sensible if the 
sums are directed to deal with the current present problems people are facing. 
The increasing volume of traffic, escalating crime rate and housing issues could 
be some examples of them.
Having said that, humanity can still gain some benefits from conducting 
research on space, I think. Even if there is a fragile hope, this exploration can 
provide us with a new habitable planet. In fact, accommodation problems are 
taking their toll in many parts of the world, with many urban dwellers having 
difficulty in finding a shelter. If this is likely to continue at such a rate, the future 
generation may have even more serious problems of housing, making resorting 
to other planet a sensible option. This is also true for the depletion of natural 
resources, too. Humanity have consumed almost 70% of underneath 
resources, like fossil fuels, over the last century, which shows researching the 
universe for the hope of discovering new place of resources could be 
reasonable.
To sum up, while some believe space exploration fails to have a crucial role for 
humanity, I am of the view that it can serve for the betterment of us. Not only 
can it solve the increasing accommodation problems for the future generation, 
but it can also the shortage of natural resources.
