Activity 3 More practice in giving feedback on writing
Objective: to practise giving feedback
Time: 20 min
Materials: handout 1
Procedure:

• 
  Put students in pairs. Tell students that they will have more practice in giving feedback. Give handouts 1 to each pair. Tell students to give feedback making sure their feedback is positive and constructive.
  
• 
  When they have finished, invite students to exchange their feedback with a pair sitting next to them.
  
• 
  Invite comments if necessary.

Emphasise the following:

• 
  Teachers should be guided by clear assessment criteria when marking students’ work and students should know what these criteria are;
  
• 
  It is more useful for students to get feedback from a teacher rather than a marked piece of writing;
  
• 
  Feedback teachers provide should be constructive and serve as action points for improving students’ writing skills.
