Database?! What is it?
History of database
Database in our world…
1. Database - in computing, a database is an organized set of data stored and accessible electronically. Small databases can be stored in a file system, while large databases are hosted in computer clusters or cloud storage. Database design covers formal methods and practical considerations, including data modeling, efficient representation and storage of data, query languages, security and confidentiality of sensitive data, as well as distributed computing issues, including support for parallel access and fault
tolerance.A Database management system (DBMS) is software that interacts with end users, applications, and the database itself to collect and analyze data. The DBMS software additionally includes the basic tools provided for database administration. A set of databases, DBMS and related applications can be called a database system. Often the term "database" is also used loosely to refer to any of the DBMS, database system, or application associated with the database.
Formally, "database" refers to a set of related data and the way they are organized. Access to this data is usually provided by a "database management system" (DBMS) consisting of an integrated set of computer programs that allow users to interact with one or more databases and provide access to all data contained in the database (although there may be restrictions restricting access to certain data). The DBMS provides various functions that allow you to enter, store and retrieve large amounts of information, and also provides ways to manage how this information is organized.Because of the close relationship between the two, the term "database" is often used casually to refer to both the database and the DBMS used to manage it.Outside of the world of professional information technology, the term database is often used to refer to any set of related data (for example, a spreadsheet or a file cabinet), since size and usage requirements usually require the use of a database management system.Existing DBMS provide various functions that allow you to manage the database and its data, which can be divided into four main functional groups:Data Definition – creating, modifying, and deleting definitions that define the organization of data.
Update - inserting, changing, and deleting actual data. Search is the provision of information in a form directly suitable for use or for further processing by other applications. The resulting data can be accessed in a form basically the same as it is stored in the database, or in a new form obtained by modifying or combining existing data from the database.
