December 10, 2013
Board Members in Attendance:
Alan Canonico, Marie Cofrode, Cathy Linhart, Tony Murfin, Charlie Rossi, Debbie Rossi
The meeting was called to order at 7:03 pm.
There were 28 members in attendance.
Larry Izzo conducted the invocation which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Cathy Linhart read the minutes of the November meeting. Tony Murfin made a motion to accept the minutes as read and it was seconded by Charlie Rossi.
Tony Murfin gave the Treasurer’s report. He encouraged participation at the Christmas Dinner Dance and the New Year’s Eve Dinner Dance.
Tony also gave the report of the building committee. Possible alternatives are a pavilion behind the BBQ, a leanto against the building, and a walkway to a deck over the water. John Elmore made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report and it was seconded by Bill Cofrode. The Treasurer’s report was accepted and will be filed for audit.
Debbie Rossi read her accomplishments for 2013 including: meetings with Gary Miller to plan the menus, contracted the bands for 2014, ordered the plaque for the outgoing commodore, organized the programs for the dances, made sure the building and grounds were maintained, participated in getting the kitchen floor, from May to Sept along with Alan did the treasurer’s functions. She worked on the raffles including the baskets and the Sunset Dinner on the houseboat, encouraged the formation of the building committee, participated in getting the floating dock built, conducted Open House to encourage new members. As Membership Director, she has been getting new members, the club has also lost a few.
Alan Canonico thanked 5 regulars who help with the Monday cleaning: Bruce Weaver, Larry Izzo, Diana Herres, Sherrie Johnson, and Roland Devoe. There were others who helped, but these members helped continuously.
Charlie Rossi thanked everyone who helped keep the building in good condition. Marie thanked John Elmore for taking care of the grounds. John reported that he fixed the irrigation system.
Bob and Nancy Jaderan resigned from the club in writing. Calvin and Merilyn Bumpus talked to Marie and resigned.
Cathy gave the Even Keels report encouraging attendance at the Christmas Dinner on December 19th at 5:30 pm. New officers will be installed at that time.Marie thanked Mickey Dunlap for the great job he’s done on the Yacht Yarn.
All of the officers and directors were elected unanimously and they are:
Commodore - Debbie Rossi
Vice Commodore - Alan Canonico
Rear Commodore – Gary Miller
Secretary – Catherine Linhart
Treasurer – Tony Murfin
Building & Grounds – Bruce Weaver
Public Relations – Sherrie Johnson
Membership – Bill Mandl
Food Management & Purchasing – Marie Cofrode
Decorating – Debbie Rossi
Sunshine – Pat Dunlap
Reservationist – Diana Herres
Marie thanked everyone for their support this past year.
It was suggested to Debbie to have guests come to the dinner dances free of charge. The board decided that this was not feasible at this time. One of the problems is guests from out of state here for a short time, and they say they will join and they don’t. Others who are snowbirds support us when they are here. TJ Johnson suggested that if guests come and pay for their dinner dance; then if they become members, they would be reimbursed for that first dinner dance. Pat Dunlap talked about what the guests are getting for $30 each. Debbie recommended that we table this until the new board is installed in January. Financially we’re breaking even on the dinner dances.
Doris Elmore made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Pat Dunlap seconded it.
Respectfully submitted,
Cathy Linhart
