Distribute the roles among the students: 2-3 people interviewers (e.g. Human Resources Manager, Deputy Director, Customer Care Manager), others are applicants. If in the group there more than 8 students divide the students into 2 groups.
Distribute handout 2 and ask them to read the job advert. Interviewers should prepare as many questions as possible to ask the interviews and decide on the assessment criteria. Applicants should prepare a draft of their CV and prepare for the interview.
Ask students to role-play the job interview. Each applicant can be interviewed up to 5 minutes.
At the end of the interviews the interviewers decide who is going to get the job and why.

Writing film review Lesson 1 Planning a film review 80 minutes
Aims:
to help students brainstorm ideas for writing a film review; to introduce points for structuring a film review
Warm-up (15 minutes) Procedure:
Ask students to work in pairs and tell each other about their favourite film and say why they like it. Ask students to try to persuade their partner why it is worth watching.
After discussion ask the following questions:
~ What is the name of the film your partner has shared? ~ Has your partner managed to persuade you to watch this film? Why/Why not?
Ask random answers.
Introduce the topic of the lesson, which is writing a film review.
Activity 1 Top 10 Objective: to allow students to talk about famous films Time: 20 minutes Materials: Handout 1
Procedure:
Tell students that there are different lists of top films. For example, the newspaper Times
has published a rating of 100 top films ever made. Ask students the following question:
~ Which films do you think are on the list of top 100 of all times?
Now distribute handout 1 (or show it) to students and ask them to look through the list.
Ask the following questions:
~ Have you seen them? ~ Do you agree with the listing? ~ Why do you think these films are popular?
Elicit random answers.
Put students in groups of 4-5, ask them to make a list of top 10 Uzbek films of all times.
Ask groups to share their lists and reasons for choosing them.
Activity 2 Exploring a film review Objective: to help students explore features of a film review Time: 20 minutes Materials: Handouts 2 and 3
Distribute handout 2 cut into pieces and shuffled.
Ask students to put the film review in the order they would write the review themselves.
Ask groups to share their answers in plenary.
Distribute Handout 3.
Ask students to return to their small groups and answer the questions in the handout.
Put participants in groups of 4 or 5 and ask them to share their answers.
Elicit random answers in plenary.
Activity 3 Planning a film review writing Objective: to let students an opportunity to plan writing a film review Time: 20 minutes Materials: Procedure:
Ask students to write a review of a film they have seen for the next lesson. In their review they should address the following:
what is the film about?
what did you like most about the film?
what important ideas did the film communicate?
what did you learn from watching the film?
what aspect of the film made it particularly powerful (beautiful, sad, tragic, moving)?
were you able to identify with any of the characters in the film? Why/ Why not?
what do you think was the director’s purpose in creating the film?
Ask students individually choose a film they want to write a film review and brainstorm ideas.
Put students in pairs and ask them to share their ideas and give feedback to each other.
Summarize the lesson and assign the home work which is writing a film review.
