Unit 6
STEP 1: Play the DVD. Ask the pupils to watch the dialogue 
at first. Ask what they have noticed. elicit some answers and 
then summarise that the boy gave the pencil only when the girl 
used a very polite sentence with the word “please”, i.e. ‘Can i 
have a pencil, please?’.
Play the DVD once more to make everybody understand the 
point. After that have the pupils repeat the question with or 
without “please”, and the answers as well.
