UZBEKISTAN» 
According to the World Health Organization, 60% of the available drugs are 
drugs derived from medicinal plant raw materials. At present, 112 species of medicinal 
plants are allowed to be used in official medicine in the Republic of Uzbekistan, and 
80% of these medicinal plants are naturally growing plants. The reserves of raw 
materials for naturally growing medicinal plants are also limited, and the study of their 
protection, bioecological properties, the proper use of raw materials and the 
development of science-based methods of reproduction is one of the urgent problems. 
Item 3 of the minutes of the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic 
of Uzbekistan dated August 5, 2013 No 222 - Establishment of industrial plantations 
of medicinal plants for the organization of enterprises of medicinal plants and 
production of new drugs, Paragraph 1.12 of the Minutes of the meeting "On measures 
to develop the system of farms, further expand the cultivation, preparation and 
processing of raw materials for medicinal and food plants" and the President of the 
Republic of Uzbekistan dated April 10, 2020 No PP-4670 "Protection of wild 
medicinal plants" In order to ensure the implementation of the Resolution "On 
measures for the cultivation, processing and rational use of available resources in the 
field of culture", this manual is addressed to forestry, farmers, pharmaceutical industry 
workers is provided. 
38-40% of medicines used in medical practice are herbal. Some of the 
important drugs used in the treatment of some serious diseases (cardiac glycosides, a 
number of alkaloids, terpenes, saponins, steroids and phenolic compounds and other

biologically active substances) have not yet been synthesized. The only source of them 
is still plants. 
The territory of Uzbekistan is very rich in flora, as it consists of different 
climatic zones. It has more than 4,000 species of plants, including about 600 species of 
medicinal plants. But not all of them are yet fully used in medical practice to treat 
diseases. Only about 250 species of medicinal plants are used in medical practice, and 
the rest are used in folk medicine and pharmaceutical industry. requires the creation of 
a wide range of technological and inexpensive drugs. However, the wild harvesting of 
plants, the impossibility of obtaining the required standards and the required amount 
of raw materials, requires the creation of industrial plantations. 
No matter how much the natural resources of wild plants in our country are, 
there are limits to them. Just as there is no wealth on earth in unlimited quantities, the 
resources of the plant world are not infinite. Therefore, if the naturally occurring plant 
resources are not used properly, these "infinite resources" may one day disappear from 
the face of the earth. 
The protection and effective use of medicinal plants and natural resources have 
been positively reflected in the relevant decisions. The need to protect nature, the 
environment, the proper and rational use of natural resources (forests, water and water 
resources, mineral resources, etc.), to preserve them for future generations is reflected 
in our basic law - the Constitution of the Republic.
