Introduction

This metadata style guide was created to assist organizations participating in the Pinellas Memory digitization project as they create metadata for their digital objects. This style guide will help assist the organizations by providing guidelines of how to import metadata into CONTENTdm. It serves to ensure consistency across the various collections to facilitate ease and accessibility of the collections.

Acknowledgements

This guide is based on metadata elements used by the Dublin Core Metadate Initiative (DCMI) and the New York Hudson River Valley Heritage. We followed many of the guidelines found in the Hudson River Valley Heritage Metadata Style Guide Version 2.3. We have also used the following resources to understand and to figure what would work best for the Pinellas Memory Project: Capital District Library Council Digital Collection Metadata Style Guide, InfoSoup Memory Project Metadata Style Guide, RRLC New York Heritage Metadata Style Guide (version 4.2), and CNY Heritage DigiWiki.

View, add, edit and delete fields. Enable full text searching and controlled vocabulary. After you have added, changed, or deleted fields, index the collection to update changes.
