Intransitive verb:
I work from 9:00AM to 5:00 PM every day.
I = grammatical subject; work = intransitive verb (simple present)
In addition, sometimes a verb can be transitive in one sentence and intransitive in another sentence.
Transitive verb:
She sang two songs for the audience.
She = grammatical subject; sang = transitive verb (past simple); two songs = object
Intransitive verb:
She sings beautifully.
She = grammatical subject; sings = intransitive verb (simple present)
Look at the grammar examples above. Then decide whether each the verb in sentence below is 
transitive or intransitive.

IELTS Grammar Exercise 6 is a review of singular and plural verb forms in the English language:
When writing an essay for the IELTS exam, be sure to identify the grammatical subject of your 
sentence, especially if the grammatical subject contains prepositional phrases. This will help you to 
understand whether you need a singular or plural verb.
Singular grammatical subject + singular verb:
The child in boy scouts knows how to light a fire.
child = singular subject; knows = verb; ["scouts" is part of a prepositional phrase]
