EXPERIENCE OF PRIMARY EDUCATION OF FOREIGN COUNTRIES

RASULOVA N.S., Candidate of Historical Sciences, Tashkent Higher Military Technical Training
Establishment of Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan
Primary school is a level of secondary or general education, in which the pupil is given the most necessary and
superficial knowledge, as well as addiction, love and respect for everything spiritual, moral, and also the ability to think
logically. The term "primary school" appeared in France in 1802. The duration of primary education differs in different
countries. For example, in Uzbekistan, Russia it is 4 years, in France, the UK for 5 years, in Mexico, South Korea and
Japan for 6 years.
The school in Japan is divided into three stages: primary school (grades 1-6) - shogakko, secondary school
(grades 7-9) - tyugakko, high school (10-12 grades) - kotogakko. Primary and secondary school in Japan are
compulsory for all and are free. In elementary school, general subjects are taught: the state language, calligraphy,
arithmetic, music, art, physical culture, the fundamentals of life activity, humanities, natural sciences, and labor. Some
private schools additionally teach religious studies, secular ethics, valeology, etc.
In Japan, the academic year begins on April 6 and consists of three trimesters. The first trimester lasts until
July 20, followed by a big summer vacation. On September 1, the second trimester begins, the winter holidays start on
December 26, and the last, third trimester continues from January 7 to March 25. Then there are small spring holidays
during which there is a transition from class to class. The beginning of the academic year in April is due to the fact that
at this time in Japan the spring comes into full force and the cherry blossoms begin to blossom. During the holidays,

122
students receive homework. Sometimes they continue to study on vacation (in special courses), if they didn‘t study well
enough during trimester. Primary school students are recommended to conduct "diaries in pictures" on vacations -
pictures replace gaps in knowledge of kanji and develop the ability of the student to write and draw. Wearing the
uniform and cleaning the pupils of the school is compulsory. There are no cleaners in Japanese schools. For
schoolchildren, they often organize joint trips to nature and excursions to ancient Japanese cities and temples. Such
excursions usually last until three to four days
Getting a good education in South Korea is crucial in the formation of a successful career of any Korean, so the
task of entering a prestigious educational institution is given the highest priority, and the process of passing the entrance
examinations can be quite intense. South Korea was the first country to provide high-speed Internet access in all
educational institutions from primary schools to universities.
The academic year in South Korea is divided into two semesters. The first begins in March and ends in mid-
July; the second begins in late August and ends in mid-February. The list of subjects studied in the elementary school
includes Korean language, mathematics, exact sciences, social sciences, languages, fine arts, music.
The UK education system has developed over many centuries and is currently subject to strict quality
standards. Education in the UK is compulsory for all citizens aged 5 to 16 years. Institutions for junior schoolchildren
are called – Primary schools. In Primary schools the age of pupils is from 5 to 11 years. Examinations SATs are
conducted in 2 stages, in the second and sixth years of training. The results of the second exam are important for
admission to Secondary School (education for children aged 11 years). In the UK, preschool institutions are taught to
read, write, count, develop through games. In elementary school, children learn English, mathematics, history,
geography, music, technology of industry and art. Items are chosen by parents. In this country, the lessons are not for 45
minutes. Here is a very strange and interesting system. The first lesson lasts 2 hours and 20 minutes, and it is usually
divided into two parts without break between them. For example, mathematics and English. After that, the break is 15
minutes, and the next lesson lasts an hour, and after it a big break is 50 minutes, during which children have lunch and
rest. Then comes the third lesson, which lasts 1.5 hours.
In the United States, the length and age for starting compulsory education varies according to the state.
Children begin their education at the age of 5 to 8 years and finish from 18 to 19 years. At the age of about 5 years,
American children go to elementary school - Elementary school. In elementary school, one teacher teaches all subjects,
except the fine arts, music and physical culture. Academic subjects are taught as rules of arithmetics (occasionally
initial algebra), reading and writing, with emphasis on spelling and vocabulary. Natural and social sciences are taught
little and not diverse. Often in primary school, education consists of their artistic projects, excursions, and other forms
of study through entertainment. This happened from the course of progressive education of the early twentieth century.
During the years of independence, a gradual transformation of the system of school education and education in
general took place in Uzbekistan. Its legal basis was the Constitution of Uzbekistan, decrees of the President of the
Republic of Uzbekistan, the law "Education", the National Program for the Training of Personnel.
Primary education is aimed at forming the foundations of literacy, knowledge, skills necessary to obtain
general secondary education. In the first grade of the school, children are accepted from six to seven years of age.
Primary education in Uzbekistan is compulsory, free and universal. This means that all children who have reached
school age attend a general or special (for disabled children and children with a mental disabilities) primary school. The
coverage of children with primary education is 100% of the number of children of the corresponding age. Upon
completion of the primary school, the child must have the skills of reading, writing and calculating. The pupil is taught
the elements of theoretical thinking, the ability to self-control learning activities.
All pupils of the first classes of schools are provided with a free set of necessary new textbooks and
educational supplies. Since 1996, pupils of the 1
st
–9
th
grades from low-income families receive free of charge from the
state budget with sets of school supplies, as well as sets of winter clothes.
According to the Decrees of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Approval of the
Regulation on General Secondary Education" of March 15, 2017, new education standards will be gradually
implemented. The program of the mathematics lesson for children of the 1st and 4th grades will include the basics of
programming, and for the development of children's logical thinking in physical education classes, chess training will
be provided.
In general, despite certain shortcomings in the period of independence, irreversible positive changes have
occurred in school education. The main achievement of the republic is the creation of a fundamentally new system of
education recognized by authoritative international organizations.
