Legal terms - A note on a Coroner's Inquest 
In Britain, if someone is found dead and the cause of death is not 
known, a court must decide on the cause of death. The court is 
called an inquest and the person responsible for the court is called the 
coroner. Twelve local men and women are chosen to form a jury. The 
coroner brings witnesses to the court to tell the jury what they know 
gj about the death. The jury listens to the evidence of all the witnesses 
and then decides on the cause of death. Their decision is read out in 
court and it is known as the verdict of the court.
