When you go to the cinema in England you usually see in the programmer a feature film, a newsreel, some advertisements and a «trailer» about the film for the next week. There are no intervals between programmer in some cinemas and people stay there as long as they like.
Some years ago people went to the cinema very often, but now they like to stay at home in the evenings and watch video films, especially when it is cold and wet outside.
Today before the talks Umarov and Mr. Blake are speaking about the film Mr. Blake has seen.


Umarov: Did you watch the news programmer on television yes­terday, Mr.
Blake?
Blake: No, my wife and I went to the cinema last night.
U marov: What was on?
Blake: We saw a new comedy at the Odeon¹. It started at 730. There was
a newsreel in the programmer but no documentary, as the film lasted
two hours.
Umarov: Was the cinema full?
Blake: Oh, yes. It's a very popular film. I recommend you to go and to see
it.
Umarov: Thank you, but I don't like comedies very much.
Blake: What kind of films do you like?
Umarov: Well, I tike a good love story or a musical, but histori­cal turns in black
and white or in co lour are my favorite films. I tike detective films too.
Blake: How about screen versions of novels? Do you like them?
Umarov: Yes, if they are close to the original and if there are good actors in
them.
