REPORT VS DESCRIPTION

Report Text

is classifying and describing general classes of phenomena.

• If the thing which is described in the text just the representative of the whole group of the thing mentioned, we can judge it as Report Text.

• The structure of Report Text is General Clasification followed by Description.

• Description Text

is describing a particular living, non-living or natural phenomenon.

• If the thing which is mentioned in the text is clear about its name, we can make it sure as Descriptive Text.

• The structure of Description Text is Identification followed by Description.

Difference Between Recount and Narrative

• Recount retells an event.
• The purpose of a Recount is to inform and entertain.
• Recount has a flat surface.
• Recount does not have any suspense as it is mainly a description.
• Recount does not have a complication or a resolution.
• The central part of a Recount is the sequence of events.
• Recount describes the events in a chronological order.
