Pre-Activity Ask your pupils to draw picture of their family on paper. They use their knowledge taken from preivous lessons. Ask them to use crayons or color pencils
Each year Uzbekistan celebrates seven public holidays: 1st of January – New Year, 8th of March – International Women’s Day, 21st of March – Navruz, 9th of May – Memorial Day, 1st of September – Independence Day, 1st of October – Teacher’s Day, 8th of December – Constitution Day. Also Uzbekistan celebrates the Day of Defenders of Motherland on January 14 and the Day of Remembrance for the victims of political repressions, observed on August 31, though these holidays are not free days. Two major Muslim holidays in Uzbekistan, Ramadan Khait and Kurban Khait, are days off and are celebrated each year according to the lunar calendar.
After finishing ask them about their drawings, about travelling. Gather all drawings and materials put them on their own portfolio pack which all portfolio materials will be gathered. And all pupils should have their own.

DVD script: Antony: What are your plans for the holiday this year, Rustam?
Rustam: Well, Antony … I don’t know yet. Last year I went to Bildirsay. It’s a beautiful place in the mountains. It’s 75 km from Tashkent. It’s a lovely place for summer holidays.
Antony: I’ve heard a lot about wonderful places in Uzbekistan. In Great Britain, we have very many gorgeous holiday places too. Have you ever been to Brighton, Rustam? It’s to the south of London.
Rustam: I know that it’s a very popular place in the south of England. But I’ve never been there.
Antony: It’s a super place where I like to spend my holidays. Last summer I went there with my parents and a little sister.
