Lesson plan:
Topic: Restaurant and service
Context: Working as a waiter/waitress
Length of time: 40 minutes.
Level of target learners: pre-Intermediate
Materials/equipments: Laptop, television, speaker, white board, worksheets, note cards.
Objectives:
Learners will do some listening activities. With the help of the activity, they can be able to understand the clients.
Learners will learn some vocabularies related to the food and restaurant. They will be able to use these vocabularies in their everyday conversion.
Learners will have a reading activity related to food and restaurant. With the help of the activity, they can easily comprehend whatever they read accordance with their profession.
Learners will have a writing activity. This activity helps to make them filling documents.
Warm up activity. Exercise 1. Dialog
Aim of the activity.
With the help of this activity, students can adapt the classroom atmosphere.
Procedure.
After revising the previous lesson's topic and checking the hometasks of the learners the teacher introduce the new topic and say that they are going to listen a dialog between waiter and client. They listen and do some activities at dictation part. Afterwards, teacher make them pair and order them to make their own dialog and perform as if they were at restaurant.
Activity 2. Exercise 2. Vocabulary part(10 minutes)
Aim of the activity.
Learners will enrich their vocabulary resources in their profession in order not to lost themselves in daily conversation.
Procedure:
The teacher give a piece of reading related to food and restaurant which some vocabularies are in bold. Then, the meaning of the words is explained and teacher will show how to use these words with other examples.
Activity 3. Exercise 3. Reading (10 minutes)
Aim of the activity.
Learners will improve their comprehending in reading when they have to read instructions and direction in their working place.
Procedure:
Learners have some passages about popular restaurants around the world and their task is to read these texts. Afterwards, they should describe another place which they want to build in the future. They should make even the menu for the restaurant in their imagination.
Activity 4. Writing(10 minutes)
Aim of the activity.
Learners will be taught how to fill documents when they apply for the work.
Procedure:
The teacher gives some blanks and teaches them to fill it correctly.
Final stage. (5 minutes)
The teacher evaluates the students that participated for the lesson actively and will announce the home task.
