Learning outcomes:
At the end of the course students are able to:
LO1 --read, interpret and comprehend a text on specialty (translate if necessary)
LO2 --understand authentic English on required level;
LO3-- acquire skills of an oral monologic and dialogical speech on daily, industry-related topics;
LO4-- proper use of grammatical and lexical materials of language in the field of the specialism, daily and social situations;
LO5-- write informal letter, e-mail, report, proposal and recommendations;
Unit 1. Meeting people. Working in IT.
At the end of the unit students are able to:
U 1.1. describe IT related jobs and duties; express adverbs of frequency and time expressions. use them in situations; use vocabulary concerning IT related jobs and duties in discussions and in situations;
U 1.2. talk about what IT companies do; make conversation using present simple questions; use vocabulary concerning IT business and products in discussions and in situations;
U 1.3. discuss IT workplace rules; explain usage of modal verbs; comprehend heard utterance; use vocabulary concerning IT workplace rules.
U 1.4. express suggestions, agreeing and disagreeing; arrange a meeting using modals and the imperative.
Unit 2. IT systems.
At the end of the unit students are able to:

Unit 3. Data communication
At the end of the unit students are able to:
U 3.1. understand a text about internet browsing, describe browser problems; contrast Present simple and present continuous, use vocabulary of the lesson in different situations and tasks.
U 3.2. define network concepts; make sentences using relative clauses; use vocabulary of the lesson in different situations and tasks
U 3.3. discuss mobile computing; explain pros and cons of mobile devices; identify types of conditionals; give definitions to the words related data communication.
U 3.4. understanding authentic materials about e-mails; be aware of steps in sending an e-mail; insert appropriate article in the text; prepare a proposal.
UNIT 4. Administration
At the end of the unit students are able to:
U 4.1. discuss about the usage of spreadsheets and formulae, using past simple in actions properly; practice vocabulary of the lesson.
U 4.2. describe how to use database; differentiate Gerund and Participle II; explain sequences of systems administration tasks.
U 4.3. practice time clause; describe peripherals, explain the problem, read a text and answer the questions according to it.
