GLOSSARY
salary- money that employees receive for doing their job, especially professional employees or people working in an office, usually paid every month
wage - a regular amount of money that you earn, usually every week or every month, for work or services
passionate - having or showing strong feelings of love or anger, etc.
to succeed - to achieve something that you have been trying to do or get; to have the result or effect that was intended
to equal the same in size, quantity, value, etc. as something else
employer - a person or company that pays people to work for them
employee a person who is paid to work for somebody
self - employment - the situation of working for yourself and not being employed by a company, etc.
enterprising - having or showing the ability to think of new projects or new ways of doing things and make them successful nine-to-five job - the normal working hours in an office
complicated - made of many different things or parts that are connected; difficult to understand
traffic jam - a long line of vehicles on a road that cannot move or that can only move very slowly
paycheck - the cheque that you are given when your salary or wages are paid to you
flexibility - the ability to change to suit new conditions or situations
designer - a person whose job is to decide how things such as clothes, furniture, tools, etc. will look or work by making drawings, plans or patterns
architect - a person whose job is designing buildings
veterinary surgeon / vet - a vet (= a person who has been trained in the science of animal medicine, whose job is to treat animals who are sick or injured)
surgeon - a doctor who is trained to perform surgery (= medical operations that involve cutting open a person’s body) nurse - a person whose job is to take care of sick or injured people, usually in a hospital
policeman- a male police officer
hairstylist - a person whose job is to cut, wash and shape hair
fireman - a person, usually a man, whose job is to put out fires
accountant - a person whose job is to keep or check financial accounts
waitress - a woman whose job is to serve customers at their tables in a restaurant, etc.
driver - a person who drives a vehicle
interpreter - a person whose job is to translate what somebody is saying into another language
office clerk - a person whose job is to keep the records or accounts and do other routine duties in an office, shop, etc.
