THE ADVANTAGES OF USING EUROPAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE 
(CEFR) TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN EDUCATION SYSTEM

Introduction.
Globalization of the world economy requires professionals in 
various areas to communicate effectively in foreign languages. The success in 
intercultural professional communication depends on the ability to deal with language 
and cultural barriers, i.e. on the language skills and competences regarding a 
professional area. So that is why the problem of foreign language education is very 
important at the present stage for Uzbekistan, because in the context of globalization 
and European integration the system of higher education is aimed at training highly 
qualified experts who are able to meet the challenges of today’s global working world. 
The CEFR is the most comprehensive, and the most widely used set of Foreign 
language education standards throughout the world. Please note that it does not tell 
language professionals what their objectives should be. Both curricula and assessments 
for language learning need to be developed for and adapted to the context in which they 
are to be used. 
The CEFR started as a reliable way to compare the curriculum, the qualifications 
and the assessments of different schools, different colleges and universities in the same 
country or different countries. It is the result of thousands of teachers and researchers 
establishing detailed descriptions of language proficiency at different levels. 
The CEFR provides a reference point for language competency around the world 
as the following table:

The result is a framework designed to provide a descriptive means of comparing 
and guiding the objectives, achievement standards, and qualifications of learners in

different national and local contexts. It has expanded to include.the many skills (or 
competencies) needed by language learners, and therefore is a guide to appropriate 
curricula, appropriate learning activities and appropriate assessments. 
The competencies are classified into six levels of proficiency, as is shown in table 
2:
