In this way, NB-IoT based communication was implemented for microcontroller board 
without on-board NB-IoT module.

NB-IoT implementation with on-board Modem (SODAQ SARA) 
SODAQ SARA AFF R410M is a development board with NB-IoT modem from ublox 
on-board.

The cellular NB-IoT module runs on a SIM card and is internally interfaced to UART 
port 1 (Serial1) of SARA. The AT Commands driver is abstracted from user by Sodaq_nbIOT 
library, which is an object-oriented implementation that enables creation of NB-IoT object.
Implementation 
Again, for this implementation, UDP datagrams are sent over NB-IoT to a remote IP 
and remote port. The algorithm followed is: 
1.
Create a Sodaq_nbIOT type object 
2.
Initialize Serial1 port with baud rate appropriate for SARA R410M 
3.
Create a modem instance 
4.
Connect modem to the appropriate NB-IoT network provided by the provider 
5.
Open a local UDP socket 
6.
Send the data to remote IP and port as a UDP payload through the socket created 
earlier 
So, it is easier to use the API of SODAQ’s NB-IoT library, to communicate using NB-
IoT. The API is as follows:
