Literature sharpens a person's mind, purifies his soul and helps him to take the right step in life. In Uzbekistan, adhering to the profound principle of "Literary friendship - eternal friendship", we pay special attention to the translation and publication of masterpieces of world literature in Uzbek.It should be noted that thousands of works of world literature have been translated in our country, which have found their way into the hearts of readers, and a unique creative school of literary translation and translation studies has been formed.At the same time, to translate the best examples of our classical and modern literature into foreign languages, which for centuries have glorified such immortal qualities as perfect human education, a just society, individual freedom, freedom of the homeland, creativity, tolerance and internationalism, humanity. Great work is being done in our country to promote abroad. Just as every nation has its own literature, so America has its own unique vocabulary that is incomparable to the artistic creations of other nations and countries.Historically, the literature of this country, which has a unique stage of formation and development, also emerged and developed under the influence of local aborigines, Spaniards and English, as well as French, Russian, Japanese and other cultures.American literature is important because of its diversity and its focus on social issues, «said Zarif Kuvonov², a teacher and lover of American literature.The 19th century is of great importance in American history.By this time, the writers had fought against oppression by writing truthfully about the sufferings of the people. Realism has been formed from the root word «real»; depending on how the word is used realism can be sued in many ways. We often use the word realism when analyzing characters or objects in novels, stories, or even in movies. Realism is the mindset a person has in a particular situation at the giving time (for example if it’s snow outside, than, we know to dress for the cold weather because it’s snow outside; we don’t have to come outside to see if it’s cold).Realism can also be referred to realistic or realist meaning that things can be describes from a social, emotional, or a visual view; anything can be realism, realistic, or realist. Samuel Clemens Longhorne, better known by his pseudonym, Mark Twain, is known to be a realist writer - one who, in his novels, has exhibited a strong abhorrence for sentimentality and Romanticism. An icon of American Literature, while Mark Twain has been lauded for his realistic portrayal of life, along with all its sordidness and reality, he has also been disparaged for his questioning of society's accepted ideals and beliefs. Mark Twain uses realism in his stories because they are based on real things that could happen in life. Twain portrays his stories in such a way that all readers can get an understanding of the characters. Twain also gives his reader a visual that makes the reader want to know what will happen next. The reader can easily pick up on Twain’s characters in a social or an emotional view; his work gives the reader a clear vision by putting his work in detail, especially about the character’s emotions. Twains goes into depth with his stories; his narrative skills are great; he narrates in ways that make you think that you are one of the characters in the story. His narrative ways make you feel the character’s emotions.In Mark Twain story «The Notorious Jumping Frog of Calaveras County» Smiley was a character that represented the realist because he had a gambling habit (his gambling habit caused him to be the character that he is); he was a very deceiving character that lives by gambling. Smiley life was a game to him; he would bet on everything (gamble to smiley was normal). Smiley’s attitude about gambling makes him a realist because this was his life in a real-life situation to him. Smiley thought that he would win every bet until the table was turned and someone cheated him.»Tell it like it is» ³ was a slogan for artists during the period we refer to as Realism. This seems to be the drive and success formula behind Mark Twain’s fiction because his characters are endowed with all the aspects of human nature. This is especially evident in Huck Finn who tries to come to terms with his moral dilemmas, but also Tom Sawyer possesses human qualities we can recognise. Post-Civil War America was a turbulent time; industrial America was rising, a massive immigration formed the population, urbanisation and new ways of transport marked the pattern of the nation. Mark Twain lived in the midst of all this, and his two major works reflect a social realism and a moral perspective which were typical and in many the tim ways an accurate documentation of the American reality at the time.⁴
