Write the Problem in Question Form

•

When the problem finally seems clear to everyone, test that understanding by 

writing the problem in question form. 

•

Discuss the wording of  the written question until all members are satisfied. 

Even when the problem to be solved seems obvious, the team should 

summarize it by stating it precisely in question form. If  the team cannot 

agree on the specific wording, then the problem has not been defined clearly 

enough.

Research and analyze the problem.

(e.g. group assignment)

List topics needing research/discussion.

•

Gather information.

•

Discuss information/opinions in organized fashion.

•

Identify a topic.

•

Allow all members to give research/opinions on that topic.

•

Ask if  anyone wishes to add additional thoughts.

•

Summarize the group’s findings.

•

Identify the next topic and repeat until finished.
