It took about six months of part-time work to complete my single set of value statements. I asked, of course, why should something so basic take so long? However, a few months after the design document was complete enough, I attended a dinner where a relatively new CEO unveiled his new corporate mission statement, which is essentially a set of corporate values. He mentioned that he worked on it throughout his first year as CEO. At that moment, I felt a bit better about my behavior.

I call my values system the Principles of Family or simply my
