Security

Security permissions can be set up from the patron screen or they can be set up from Administration in the Navigator. The Insignia Library System allows you to create a group and assign permissions to it and then add patrons to this group. This makes maintenance simple and is the recommended method of assigning permissions. Patrons can be assigned permissions individually, but this approach is not recommended and should be used as an exception rather than as a standard practice. Assigning Groups and Permissions to a Patron

To assign groups and permissions to a patron, follow these steps:

1. 
   Click on “Administration” in the Navigator Toolbar.
   
2. 
   Click on “Security”.
   
3. 
   Click on “Patrons” tab.
   
4. 
   Enter the search criteria to find the patron.
   
5. 
   Select the patron for whom you would like to change the security from the dropdown list.
   
6. 
   Click on “Edit”.
   
7. 
   Select the groups to which you would like this patron to belong.
   
8. 
   Select the permissions you want to assign to this patron.
   
9. 
   Click on “Save”.

    Note: you may find it easier to change permissions for a single patron from the patron profile.
