Three-level sports games. The years of independence have become a special period for the popularization of physical culture and sports in the country. Among the first important victories of Uzbek athletes are the successes of Iroda Tulyaganova in tennis, Ruslan Chagaev, Artur Grigoryan and Muammadkodir Abdullayev in Boxing on the world sports arenas.
Kurash. Thanks to independence, opportunities were created for the revival of national sports and their international recognition. Already in 1992, the first international competitions in national Kurash were held in Termez and Shakhrisabz. In 1992, the Kurash Federation was organized in Uzbekistan, and in 2001-The Kurash Federation on belts. It is engaged in promoting the ideas of Olympism, ensuring the participation of representatives of the Republic in the Olympic games, establishing and developing friendly relations with athletes around the world. In January 1996, by the decision of the International Olympic Committee, the first President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, I. A. Karimov, was awarded the Olympic Gold order for services to the development of world sports and devotion to the ideas of Olympism. In August 1996, the Museum of Olympic glory was organized in Tashkent. During the period from 2000 to 2016, our country's athletes took an active part in the summer Olympic and Asian games. And such athletes as A.Taymazov, M. Ibragimov (freestyle wrestling), A. Doktorashvili (Greco-Roman wrestling), R. Sobirov (judo), U. Haidarov, A. Atoev, B. Sultanov (Boxing), A.Fokin (gymnastics), O. Chusovitina, E. Khilko (gymnastics) have contributed to the glorification of sports achievements of our country's athletes on the world stage. In particular, the freestyle wrestler Artur Taymazov became the only sportsman who repeatedly achieved the title of Olympic champion held in 2016 in Riode-Janeiro (Brazil) XXXI summer 2016.
