IIS is an international joint project involving 14 countries: Russia, the United States, Japan, Canada, and members of the European Space Agency – Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, France, Switzerland, and Sweden. [1] [2] [3] (the first participating countries were: Brazil (Brazil gave up due to financial difficulties) and the United Kingdom (which signed the Intergovernmental Agreement on the Space Station but later did not participate in the program).
