Uzbekistan, an amazing country. It is as ancient as the Earth itself, beautiful as a tulip. The culture of Uzbekistan is as varied as the patterns of a bright carpet. The population of our country is as variegated by its ethnic composition, as rich as placers of flowers on the slopes of the Uzbek mountains or on the plains.
Uzbekistan Republic is one of the four Republics of Central Asia. Uzbekistan is situated between the Amu Darya and Syr Darya, the greatest Asian rivers. It is the region of flat- lands, mountains and deserts. The territory of the Republic covers 447,4 thousand square kilometers and is larger than Great Britain or Italy. Uzbekistan borders on Kazakhstan, Kirghizia, Tajikistan and Turkmenia. In the South Uzbekistan borders on Afghanistan. The Republic consists of 12 regions and the Karakalpak Republic. There are about 80 towns and 86 settlements of urban type here.
The nature of Uzbekistan is severe, a considerable part of the country is occupied by deserts and semi-deserts. Therefore, the character of the people of Uzbekistan is tempered in such conditions. Here people have long learned to appreciate the

simplest things: a source of water, an ordinary tree, in the shadow of which you can hide.
The climate is continental. A great number of bright sunny days are good for cotton growing. Uzbekistan is one of the most important producers of cotton and silk. If you look at the map of the Uzbek Republic you will see coal, oil and natural gas resources, deposits of marble, non-ferrous and other metals including gold.
About 120 nations and nationalities live on its territory. Uzbeks represent more than 70% (per cent) of the whole population. Titanic work to develop all sectors of the economy, of industry in particular, has been done in Uzbekistan. Once there was no industry there; today the Republic has more than 100 industries. Now planes, tractors, cotton harvesters, technical equipment for the textile and chemical industries are being manufactured in Uzbekistan .
Being an Uzbek, a citizen of the heavenly country with a rich ancient history, hospitable people and unforgettable natural beauties gives me a great pride. The reason for this honour roots back to many facts that cannot be outlined with limited words. However, in the following paragraphs I will try to elaborate some of my motives that swell a sense of civic pride.

The history of Uzbekistan is very rich. Over the years, Uzbekistan was a super- power and put great emphasis on science and education, being a home for many breakthroughs and civili- zations. The most eminent scientists such as Abu Ali Ibn Sino, Abu Rayhon Beruniy, Al Xorazmiy were our
ancestors. As well as this, one of the greatest poets in the wo rld Alisher Navoi whose poems had great influence even on other east countries` literature was also from Uzbekistan. Another example is the king of the largest and most baronial country-Amir Temur was born in this holy land. There are innumerable ancient places that serve as the evi dence of our rich history, that are always crowded by tourist
s. This is one of the reasons why I am so proud of my homeland.
Uzbekistan is a special country. Here they revere centuries-old traditions, are very attached to the family, their relatives, parents and children. The country is changing, now we have less children, less engaged in native horse riding, more and more by car. The Internet and other information technologies are developing. But

fragrant Uzbek tea, pilaf and dried apricots remain in every house of the country, waiting for guests, relatives, neighbors and distant ones. Recipes vary only, the soul of Uzbekistan remains the same.
With regard to present Uzbekistan, it hasn’t been so far to achieve its

Although Uzbekistan
was considered as undeveloped country in the first years of its independence but it, however, has started to flourish in the spheres of economy, transportation and education at high paces. As a result of the consistent realization of the Uz bek Model of development, worked out by the first Presiden t of my country- Islam Karimov, the national economy has grown more than 3

As well as this, Uzbek automobiles, clothes and other products are prevalent in the world trade. The devel
