In 1610 Henry Hudson left London on a ship called the Discovery. His purpose was to find the North West Passage, which would take him round the top of North America and across the Pacific to the islands of Java and Sumatra. Seventeen months after the ship left London, it returned. Of the twenty - two men who had sailed, there were only eight left. These eight men brought with them a long story of rebellion, murder, hunger and death.
