Here is an example of how we can use this structure in an

essay.

There is no doubt that corruption is the most important point

to  focus  on,  because  it  originates  from  positions  of  power.

Corruption  can  take  many  shapes  and  forms,  such  as  political,

which  involves  crimes  in  a  country’s  legal  system  and  within  the

police,  and  economic,  for  example  by  misusing  tax  money.  All  the

evidence  suggests  that  countries  with  corrupt  governments  are  not

able to develop as fast as countries where there is less corruption.

These factors [...].

OR

This negative environment [...].

The first sentence of a paragraph is vital, as it shows how it

connects with the overall structure, and can signal what will happen

next.

When  you  practice  writing,  always  check  that  your  essay  is

logical  by  underlining  the  most  important  sentences  in  each

paragraph. You should be able to understand the whole essay only

by reading those sentences. If you can’t, you need to make changes.
