Synonyms are an important way to avoid repetition in your writing and to show that you 
have an extended range of vocabulary. T hey also stop you from depending too much on 
conjunctions and transitions to connect your ideas and sentences. 
They are words or phrases that have the same or similar meaning as other words or phrases. 
Using them will improve the cohesion and the quality of your writing.
