Small weddings are more intimate（＝private)．I think that the most obvious advantage to having a small ceremony is that the bride and the groom get to talk to everyone, and this will create a very special atmosphere, and enforce the bonds（＝ relationships) between everyone. On the other hand, a big wedding will be more impressive and striking. It also comes with the added benefit that no one will feel left out from this special occasion, and the atmosphere could quite possibly be more exciting. However, as with anything, benefits do not come for free. Organizing a big event always costs a lot of money.
