Vocabulary

I learned Japanese as a second foreign language at university. I can convey basic ideas but it would take me at least 2 more years of studying to become truly proficient (= competent = able to talk). In the U.S. I will be fully immersed in an English-speaking environment. There's no doubt I will learn fast.
