INFLUENCE OF SC-GSC-72 ON ACTIVATED 
PARTIAL THROMBOPLASTIN TIME

Introduction. 
Currently, due to the increase in the number of 
thromboembolic complications, which are often the direct cause of death 
in cardiovascular pathology, surgery, injuries, burns, etc., the relevance 
of studies aimed at developing drugs that actively affect the hemostasis 
system does not decrease. At the same time, heparin and heparin-
like drugs are most widely used as direct anticoagulants. Considering 
that obtaining heparin is associated with high material costs, the use is 
accompanied by some undesirable effects/platelet aggregating, etc.
Purpose of the study.
The studies investigated the effect of sulfated 
cellulose CC-GSC-72 on the activated partial thromboplastin time 
(APTT) test.
Material and methods.
To clarify the mechanism of action of SC-
GSC-72 on the blood coagulation process, its effect on the APTT test 
was studied. As you know, the APTT test determines the deficiency of 
factors of the internal coagulation mechanism. A decrease in APTT 
indicates hypercoagulation and a tendency to thrombosis, an increase 
in blood hypocoagulation. APTT is sensitive to the deficiency of plasma 
coagulation factors involved in the internal coagulation mechanism 
(factors XII, XI, IX, VIII) and does not depend on platelet deficiency 
or functional insufficiency. Prolongation of APTT time may be due to 
a deficiency of factors of the internal coagulation pathway; deficiency 
of vitamin K, the presence of coagulation inhibitors, both specific and 
nonspecific.

Results. 
When studying the effect of CC-GSC-72 on APTT, it was found 
that this compound at concentrations (10-100 mg/ml) dose-dependently 
lengthens the thrombus formation time relative to the control, leading to a 
weakening of the formation of a fibrin clot, which may indicate inhibition 
of the activity of one of the factors XII, XI, IX, VIII.
Conclusion. 
Based on the results obtained, it can be assumed that SC-
GSC-72 affects the factors of the internal blood coagulation pathway.
