The  table  ()  shows  the  descriptive  analysis  of  the  second  hypothesis  "

Short  stories 

reflect  the  author's  ideas  and  cultural  background  which  help  the  reader  to 

understand  different  types  of  texts

".  the  total  mean  (average)  value  (4.45)  indicates 

that  most  of  the  participants  tend  to  strongly  agree  with  the  four  statements  of  the 

hypothesis.  The  value  of  mode,  the  most  frequent  value  is  (5)  which  strengthen  the 

indication of the mean value. The standard variation is not more than (1).
