MONEY AND MORALITY Dilrabo

Meros

Dreiser's great reputation, apart from his historical importance as a discoverer of truth in modern literature, is almost entirely due to his writing achievements. His wide imagination and obscene style made it difficult for him to work well in smaller literary forms, and his non-fiction writings, especially his essays, were characterized by intellectual inconsistency, lack of objectivity, and even bitterness. But these latter traits are less unsettling in his novels, where his compassion and sympathy for human aspirations make his best works impressive and memorable. The long novel gave Dreiser the basic form for in-depth exploration of the possibilities of twentieth-century American life with material wealth and spiritual doubts. Dreiser's protagonists struggle for self-awareness in the face of society's narrow and oppressive moral conventions, often achieving material success and erotic satisfaction, but great spiritual satisfaction bypasses them. Despite Dreiser's shortcomings as a stylist , his novels are able to portray the tragic aspects of America's quest for worldly success, with their own strength and the integrity of real detail. Sister Carrey and Sister Carrey are undoubtedly enduring literary works , reflecting the American experience of the turn of the century, with a deep understanding of its broad aspirations and wide frustrations.
1912 novel by Theodore Dreiser , the first book in an epic series based on the life of American transportation magnate Charles T. Yerkes. The other two volumes were "The Titan" (1914) and " Stock ", which were completed by Dreiser's wife after his death and published in 1947 after his death.
Kerry Frank Algernon begins Sister Cowperwood epic. Enthusiastic, cheerful and unprincipled, he considers himself indebted to greatness. The novel tells the story of his brokerage career, his lucrative but ultimately disastrous marriage, his relationship with corrupt politicians, and his relationship with a mistress whose father destroyed Cowperwood and imprisoned him. After spending over a year in prison, Cowperwood rebuilt his fortune during the Panic of 1873 and moved to Chicago 7.
The other two novels follow Cooperwood through Chicago and London through a series of nebulous deals, romances and intrigues, until after his death his empire collapsed and his life seemed meaningless.
