performance more attractive and convincing.
Slides are amazing tools that allow us to display our topic
and act as a trail guide which trigger something to be a visual
to the point we are making. Sometimes we see brilliant and
well organized presentations, but when it comes to creating it,
we get frustrated because it requires too much effort. However
it does not have to be like that. Here are the important things
which I would highly recommend to keep in mind. Knowing
the appropriate slide size is useful since different conferences,
events require various slide count limit and ratio. It is also
interesting to note that mainly used ratios are widescreen and
standard which is respectively 16 by 9 and 4 by 3. The other
fault that most presenters make is overusage of bullet points. It
makes our audience bored of slides which we are trying to
avoid in case we want to pursue success. But sometimes bullet
points are necessary if we need to state results of experiment or
something else. Keeping the text up above the screen is also a
good idea especially if it is an important information. Putting
graphs and tables in your presentation is a great way to
introduce data to support your ideas. However there should not
be too much information in a chart or table, as it can confuse
the listener. To evade such confusion, showing the main points
or differences would make it look more understandable.
There is a couple of ways to decorate your slides in order
to draw audience’s attention. One of them is having your own
style. If we are having hard time with creating suitable design
for slides, we can look through some other ones by visiting
different sites such as, slideshare.net. Find the manner you like
and adobt it too yourself. The other tip which would be useful
to know is creating a roadmap. By doing it you can let your
viewers know where you are right now, how far along you are
and take notes. But it is also helpful for a presenter himself as it
supports him to memorize what he will be talking about later
and what story, example or tip he is going to tell. The remaining
410
tricks are lightbox and “going dark” methods. In lightbox
technique you can highlight one portion of your slide. For
example if there is a lot of text going on and you want people
to focus on one thing this trick will allure their attention to the
exact point. “Going dark” tactic might come in handy if you
want to tell a story or show an example about particular event
and distract people from presentation so that they could focus
on you.
In conclusion, creating useful, fascinating presentation
requires lots of patience and creativity
